(Clearwater, FL)  --  Phillies manager Pete Mackanin has a favorite for the closer spot just one day into camp.  Mackanin said yesterday that Jeanmar Gomez "deserves" to be the team's shutdown man "at this point."  The 29-year old Gomez finished last season with 37 saves and a 4.85 ERA.  The Phils have also added veteran arm Joaquin Benoit and have Hector Neris who will both have a shot to overtake Gomez before opening day.
